I can't stand the cuteness! Kermit is technically a little cuter than Stitch. (Paul & I love that movie by the way...)

Wish we were nearby to help with the moving... I've been told I'm as good as "having a boy" around when it comes to moving. Didn't know whether to be proud or insulted, but there you have it. ;)

I've been all over the yard... plucking weeds, watering the beds, and trees. Sorting, clearing. I sat with the chickens, too. It's Betty's birthday, you know. She's five years old, my dear chica. There is too much to do... chores, errands, maintenance, even the paper work from the accident (I did not cause!) I had a moment of lazy-guilt while I visited my hens, then I reasoned: the house cannot get any messier if I'm out here for a bit. Outside, and breathing... it may be the simplest kind of therapy.

I once read a book with a woman who habitually left parties at the peak moment of her happiness. Yes, just when she was having the best time, she would politely excuse herself, and make for home. This character thought it best to leave with only happy memories, and no regrets. I have always thought this was rather brilliant. And I ponder on when I might employ a similar exit strategy.

Oh, by the way, we have a new kitty. He is white and black... with black polka dots. He purrs loudly, and does all the adorable, sometimes annoying, things kittens do. He is good with a litter box, though, so yeah! And we call him Wash, also Mister Fu. I guess we're just figuring it all out.

Tomorrow marks eleven years ago (the real official day) when I wrote my first Chickenblog post. I thought I would be posting like mad this week, pictures, deep thoughts etc. But. No. Mostly I reflect quietly, and wonder about stuff. And. Talk to myself. Incidentally, and conveniently, Pioneer Woman is still giving things away... I think of it as my blogging anniversary gift to all of you, telling you about her giveaway, that is.

Tadpole Update: Pond Life

"The larval stage of large dragonflies may last as long as five years. In smaller species, this stage may last between two months and three years. When the larva is ready to metamorphose into an adult, it climbs up a reed or other emergent plant. Exposure to air causes the larva to begin breathing. The skin splits at a weak spot behind the head and the adult dragonfly crawls out of its larval skin, pumps up its wings, and flies off to feed on midges and flies. In flight the adult dragonfly can propel itself in six directions; upward, downward, forward, back, and side to side.[6] The adult stage of larger species of dragonfly can last as long as five or six months."
