Thinking of Nena

Nena, September 19, 2003. Sleeping on Alex's baby quilt.

Susan writes wonderful garden posts, and today's included a picture of her kitties snuggled happily together. I think I've told her before, her Sassy Frankie! must be one of Nena's cousins. Our Nena passed away almost seven years ago. I mustn't let the years fog my memory, she was sweet in her own way, and she had a wicked side too.

*Frankie is a boy... I have a theory about boy kitties and their mellower-sweeter dispositions, like Bart and Frankie. Nena was as sweet as she could be, which was only when she was perfectly satisfied. Her pretty blue eyes belied her devious mind, her impatience with other breathing creatures... lol.

Makes me miss Bart, too (although he never had that wicked side--was just a sweet, orange, furry blob who never did get the knack of hitting the litterbox)

Oh my goodness, Natalie, you're right! Your Nena was the spitting image of my Frankie! (not Sassy, hehe, she's the calico) Did she have blue eyes, too? I'm so sorry she's no longer with you. I am so in love with my Frankie. He is the sweetest cat I have ever had the pleasure of being owned by. He loves to give me lots and lots of kisses and he has the sweetest smile on his face all the time.

Now the real Sassy (the calico) is a little spitfire! I just had to kick her little butt out the door because she wouldn't leave my feet alone while I was sitting at the computer. She's meaner than a striped snake sometimes!

Oops, I forgot! Thank you for the mention and the linkback!

Just popped over here from Susan's. I'd say Frankie's a veritable reincarnation of Sassy.

I'm sorry your Nena isn't with you still. My KittenKat is a strange girl. She's exactly like her Daddy and me-independent, content to do her own thing, loves computers (sitting on them and making noises happen), games (hide and seek, catch, chase) and affection-but not too much. Like her Mommy, she can at times be demanding, but like her Daddy, she is extremely sweet natured...

I hold that same theory about boy kitties...

I agree with your theory of boy cat/sweetness ratio and girl cat/meanness ratio. My oldest girl cat, Cricket (whom I have written about on my blog), is the witchcat from hell, but she's 16 and whaddya gonna do with the elderly? Keep her away from the kids, for sure!

Oh, you've made me remember Katie, our first baby, the kitty cat who loved climbing curtains and sleeping at the foot of our bed.
