What if...

The other day I clicked a gadget in the sidebar of Chickenblog. Instead of an editing field popping up on my monitor, Google sent me a message:

"Page Not Found"

Not alarming. These things happen.
But, they also included an image, a sort of alternate reality. And that was alarming. It was like the manifestation of a bad dream, where the world you have created, built, sheltered, and preserved has vanished! Gah!

What if Geoff hadn't insisted I give blogging a try?
What if we didn't have our own URL, and this journal, this scrapbook we call "Chickenblog?"
What if I hadn't been keeping track of our good days, our valleys, the twists and turns of life?
What if I didn't have a Big, Beautiful, Black camera, and a computer to upload images to?
What if Chickenblog, as we know it, was gone?

What if Chickenblog was a recipe site!?!

Why Google-Blogspot?
Why show me this?
Are these the shadows of the blog that has not happened, but will happen in the time before us? Our blogs will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead, but if the courses be departed from, the ends will change. Say it is thus with what you show me! I will honor Chickenblog in my external hard-drive, and try to keep it all the year. Deep thoughts and other musings, with a view, to the past, present, and future.
(My apologies to Charles Dickens.)

Sigh... that is one vision I do not care to ponder any further.

I am soooo glad Chickenblog is not a recipe site - there is no collection of recipes on the planet that would bring as much joy and happiness and pleasure and surprise as Chickenblog does!

A few weeks ago my blogspot blog entirely disappeared for a few hours and then reappeared. I still don't know why...

Well, that had to be a tense few hours. I haven't really worried too seriously about the blog disappearing, but I have experienced a blogger *disappearing,* and it feels tragic. She was across the continent, also in Canada. We exchanged comments all the time, and then suddenly nothing! I think of her all the time, but it's been years, and no reply in her blog, or through email. I miss her, and I wish I could know if she is okay. I don't have enough leads to look any where else. It's made me a bit anxious about losing any other friends in this Other World, where we know each other on one level, and yet are still, in many ways, anonymous.

The image is so elaborate, and "planned," it gives me the heebie-jeebies, like someone is just biding their time to get their hands on our name... yikes!

Ohhhh noooo! We do not need another chicken-recipe blog. NO. Your Chicken Blog needs to keep going. The show must go on! :)

Your blog is one of the highlights of my day, not every day but most.
It was great to see you, Maria and Alex on Sunday.
It still feels strange to me not just being able to go across the road and be at your place.
See you soon.

I shudder to think of no ChickenBlog. It's such a welcome and rich addition to my life. It fill my heart and mind with inspiration, love and joy. So glad this isn't an idea we have to dwell on. I'm forgetting it in 3, 2, 1...

Ah, thank you, friends, for the CB love.
It sure is hilarious-shocking-hilarious to see the blog with nothing but recipes... a strange, alternate reality!
