Summer's Coming!

Are you like me? Counting the days until summer? Maybe you count all the way up to Solstice.

I count up to the last day of school.

Sometimes, when the aching for freedom is more than I can bear, I count only the school days, and remind myself that the weekends are good.

I have zinnias and peppers, waiting to go into the ground. They're ready to spread their roots, bloom, and grow. They want to bust out of those little cubbyholes... that's what summer is for!

We have plans, and unplans, and wishful thinking. Not to get too far ahead of myself, but I worry that it's already going by too fast. There is so much we want to see and do, it feels urgent, but we mustn't rush it. Sort of makes me feel like this flower... stretching, and yearning, eager for the future. It's coming, it's coming! Hang in there.

Commenting is still open for the May 30th drawing and giveaway of Skallops! Don't let this one get away!

The closer it gets, the farther away it feels! I was folding laundry yesterday and congratulating myself that I had a break from work clothes for a while, when I remembered... what am I thinking? This is just a long weekend! There is no vacation yet! Super sad. :)

I also feel like things go to fast... sometimes I'm almost paralyzed with panic on weekends because I don't want to waste that precious time off!

I love the little yellow stars in that red flower at the bottom of the photo!

I think you have nice weather that makes it fun to be outside. Our summers are so hot and oppressively humid that we spend too much time indoors. I love the things you and your family do outdoors; they look like so much fun. Some day we hope to live in a more temperate place. We are here to be with family, but our retirement years will be elsewhere.
