Is It Hot In Here?

The Facts:

1. Our oven, The Thermafail 2000, has been operable, not more than, 4 times since October.

2. It has been seen by an appliance repair expert, who is still waiting for Thermafail HQ to report back to him about parts, and the meaning of a "code 43."

3. Geoff has diagnosed the "code 43"

4. The Thermafail 2000 is a 580lb beauty, with little, to nothing, to recommend it to people who like to actually cook.

5. At four o'clock, today, family is coming here to cook a birthday dinner for Geoff. Here. Cook. In our kitchen.

6. I ordered dessert. Thank you Karen's Kookies, and Moonlight Baking!

Just before Alex and Geoff lifted off the... the thing at the back of the stove, I asked: "Geoff, should I call your mom, and ask her about having dinner at her place?" And Alex replied, with admirable bravado, "We'll be baking garlic bread tonight!"

...they're still tinkering. I'm not worried.

Should I be?

You have a gorgeous (if temperamental) oven/stove and a priceless husband. But please, don't keep us in suspense! Will you tell us what happened?!

yeah - I see your problem, that is a serious (pseudo)oven!!!

Fingers crossed that by the time I'm typing this your oven will be functional!

We finished it with two hours to spare!

Well, it really LOOKS impressive! Your guys are so smart I bet they will figure it out!

By the way, I'm watching "Lord of the Rings" on TV and that photo you posted looks just like one of the Men of Rohan. Is that who he is?

Or was he one of the "Men of Gondor"? Guess I'll have to go back and read them again!

Judy, that is Boromir, from Gondor. He is the son of the Steward of Gondor. In Rivendell, at the counsel meeting when the Fellowship is being formed, he says "One does not simply walk into Mordor." The line has taken on a life of its own... with people adapting it to their own "challenges."

Yes!

They worked so. hard!
And... the oven is working.
He makes the solution sound
simple, but it really was quite
an achievement. Bottom line:
the oven is gorgeous, the company
that makes is NOT.

It's a big boy, and _fits_ in a nicely finished kitchen.
Replacing it would be horrendous, one way or another, so
I am truly thankful for Geoff's determination and skills,
along with the good assisting of Alex and William.
Baked cookies for our new neighbors, this morning. A chicken is warming up for dinner, and Alex and Maria are preparing a coffee cake, now!

All shiny and working!
You guys are the best.

So what you're saying is, don't buy one of these unless there is an engineering genius/saint in the house?

They already gave us so much to admire them for, and now this! Hurray for the heroes in your house, who are so inspiring with their "we can DO this!" approach to life. Really wonderful!!

Wishing you a future of hot baked goodies. That's a beautiful stove/oven by the way. Fancy schmancy.

Omigoodness, six burners! AND a built-in griddle! Spouse would drool all over this stove! Glad you figured out what the mysterious "Code 43" meant, and can now bake to your heart's delight.
