One step closer, now that another hearing is behind us. Depending on what happens next week, there may be a trial in August. Yesterday's thing was basically... awful. It had me shaken and sad, and feeling violated. But. What can I do? Move forward. Just keep swimming? I left the court feeling like the one thing we all need, to receive and to share, is love. More love, and kindness, patience. My patience and compassion were tested, and I can't pretend I am going to hug drunkladydriver, but I want her to get help and not kill anyone, including herself... and that is my offer of love and kindness. Get help, lady, or someone is going to get hurt, again.

After all the cancellations, it feels like we are in the countdown... 5 days til the second hearing, no postponements. One down, and two to go, and I have this sick pit weight dread, so it's not really surprising that my head hurts, and my eyes shut when I try to think. I don't know if I can ever reason why in person I am quiet, private, but post here, as though no one in the world will see; maybe I dare myself to release something of the panic, to express the fear, the inexplicable, what I cannot unravel. It's like turning on the light, to confront the monster, instead of wrestling in total darkness... but to see it, is terrible, too.

Another DA call, another date set for a preliminary hearing... and yeah, I am shaking, and wishing this were all done.

Maria is baking pumpkin pie. And I have been making more posts to catch up on my blog. (It's obsessive, I know, but it only has to matter to me, and so it doesn't matter. That makes no sense, and yet I feel I've made a good case.) Geoff is getting some days off this week. The weather is still mild, and it makes me feel eager to optimize all of the pleasures we can before it's too hot to move. Last week we rented bicycles, then a boat, then drove the long way home... and that felt like an adventure. One more thing... we have an anniversary coming up, and I really want to make it special, but I'm not sure what that means... "special." We have been married 30 years, Sunday.
