Maria's Kitties :: Seventy Five

From the white board to the white cloth... Maria's kitties were irresistibly charming, and I had to see about embroidering them onto a tea towel. The original quartet have been wiped away, but we have the photograph, and now we have them smiling at us from this new towel. I've been meaning to reproduce her art, or her brothers', this way for... oh, about ten or twenty years! It's so easy, I wish I'd jumped in sooner!

The house is quiet. There is less coughing, people are away to school and office. There is a palpable feeling of waiting; it belies the stillness of this morning.

It's happening everyday, all over the Bird House. Inside. Outside. Around here, stuff is getting made... like a new gate for the metal fence around the pool, pine cuttings for future craft projects, a box prototype for the skeletons. Carpentry, welding, forging, sewing, crafting, gluing, painting, playing, baking, designing, rendering, modeling, filming, messing up, tinkering, learning, making. It's what we do. There's a picture day!

Pretty Sunday

It is a very pretty day, with very pretty sights. Our plans and hopes have been bashed and dashed by colds and coughing, but there is too much else to enjoy to be utterly dejected.

This will be our last week of winter.

Since I am committed to sharing a picture everyday for a year, I think I will have to resign myself to posting a lot of chicken pictures. Even though I hope to include a variety of images, and not show too much bias toward any particular subject... well, let's face it, with thirteen chickens to look after everyday, and this blog being ChickenBlog... those chicas are bound to tip the scales! Here is a lovely little Ameraucana hen. She lays pale green eggs, almost grey. She still hasn't told us her name...
