This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Thank you Soule Mama

Lovely! I'm fascinated by the grey chicks with the white mama - will the chicks turn white eventually, too? Or are they just their own unique creatures? And the grass, the green grass....we just have mud.

Zelda, our white Silkie, was sitting on her eggs, as well as Puff's. Puff is the dark Silkie. I think the chicks may be mostly, or all, Puff's, but incubated by Zelda. There were nine eggs in the box, and four never hatched. Puff was out, with the roosters, and she left her eggs with Zelda, who never left the box, and was therefore probably laying unfertilized eggs. The there is the father's contribution. One rooster is a dark bantam, and the other is a dark Polish. Only one chick looks distinctly like a Polish... with the telltale pompadour. It's all a genetic mystery really!
