14~ What's Cooking?

My sketchbook was set aside, when I took up crocheting, again, and it's been months since I've painted. But the interests and pastimes that grab my attention shift from one thing to the next, and last night I opened my sketch book, sharpened a pencil, and began to revisit drawing lessons, doodles, tests, lines, shades, shapes, ideas. And again, as it is with any of my pursuits, I stumble and struggle, until I decide to be a student, a beginner, an explorer, then at least, I feel optimistic, curious enough to turn the page, try another.

With Infinity More Monkeys, a picture a day.

It's the very best part, I think, of having lots of hobbies and interests. The seasons, your energy, the prevailing winds all get to play a hand in what bubbles up, what's captivating at the time. So much to be said for circling back to things after a break, and of always being willing to take new steps to learn more. PLUS she's wonderful!!!

Isn't she adorable. You know we would be oh so, so boring if only one thing captured our attention. I just took up embroidering again after a very long hiatus. It will be knitting next month maybe, or who knows. Love your blog!!

It is a good part... the choices and variety. I do get concerned that I don't really seem to have the ambition or focus to really master a craft. But... pooh! I don't really want to cave to concern or regret when it comes to my love of dabbling! "Wonderful?" Really? We make our things, our crafts and expresssions and when we dare to send them out into the world, it's with bated breath, a critical eye, doubts. Thank you for seeing her.

Oh! Thank you! And thank you for commenting... blogging is a far, far better place with company and thoughtful exchanges. I very nearly went from crochet back into embroidery! That may come next. You're right: one thing to occupy our hands and heads would be boring... in which case, I'll never complain of boredom!!
